Cmdr. Greg Leveque
A native of New York City, NY, CDR Leveque enlisted in the Navy in September 1991 and reported to boot camp in March 1992 in Orlando, FL. He completed Nuclear Field Electronic Technician 'A' School and Nuclear Power School there followed by attending Naval Prototype Training Unit (NPTU) in Saratoga Springs, NY.
His initial enlisted sea tour was on USS EISENHOWER (CNV-69) as Reactor Controls Leading Petty Officer from 1995 to 1999. He then returned to Saratoga Springs for another tour as a Staff Instructor and to complete his bachelor’s degree. His duties included Training Coordinator (TC), Engineering Officer of the Watch Training Assistant (EOOW-TA), and Naval Training Assistant (NTA) to the Training Manager for the site. He was promoted to Chief Petty Officer in 2001.
He graduated with honors from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics. Subsequently, he applied for and was accepted to Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as an Unrestricted Line Officer in April 2003. His first assignment was on USS LEYTE GULF (CG 55) from April 2003 until February 2005, where he served as Gunnery Officer and Ordnance Officer. He was then assigned as Machinery Division Officer aboard USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) from May 2005 to April 2007. His department head tours included an assignment as Combat Systems Officer onboard USS KEARSARGE (LHD 3) and Reactor Electrical Assistant onboard PCU GERALD R FORD (CVN 78). He also completed an XO-Special Mission assignment as the C5I Officer on board the Forward Deployed USS WASP out of Sasebo, Japan. He is currently serving as the Executive Officer of Coastal Riverine Squadron Four.
CDR Leveque's shore assignments included a tour as a Shift Engineer and the Staff Training Officer at Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit Moored Training Ship 635 (MTS-635) in Charleston, SC where he oversaw the successful completion of an Operational Reactors Safeguard Examination and coordinated the re-qualification and certification of the staff instructors following a pier side extended maintenance availability. He also served as the Executive Officer of Training Support Center Hampton Roads. He holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University and Joint Professional Military Education Certification from Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.
