Cmdr. Dan Ciullo


Commander Dan Ciullo is a native of Orlando, Florida. He graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Studies and was commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer in 2007 through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps.

Commander Ciullo’s tours at sea have been as First Lieutenant in USS NITZE (DDG-94), where he qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer, Navigator in USS GUNSTON HALL (LSD-44), Combat Systems Officer in USS DETROIT (LCS-7) Gold Crew, and Operations Officer in USS DETROIT (LCS-7) Gold Crew. During his tours afloat, he completed 3 deployments to the FOURTH, FIFTH, and SIXTH Fleet Areas of Responsibility in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Unified Response, Baltic Operations (BALTOPS), Africa Partnership Station, and Southern Partnership Station.

Ashore, Commander Ciullo earned a Master’s of Science in Systems Engineering Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). Following his time at NPS, he served as a requirements officer for Directed Energy Weapons and the Naval Rail Gun for Director, Surface Warfare Division (OPNAV N96). Following his department head tours, he served as the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Analyst for Director, Assessment Division (OPNAV N81) during which he re-designated as Training and Administration of the Reserves (TAR). Commander Ciullo’s most recent assignment was as Commanding Officer, Navy Reserve Center Buffalo from February 2023 to March 2024. Commander Ciullo reported to Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron FOUR in May 2024 as the Executive Officer.

Commander Ciullo completed his Joint Professional Military Education through the Naval War College and the Joint Forces Staff College. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), and the Navy Achievement Medal (3 awards) as well as various other personal and unit awards. He is currently assigned as the Executive Officer of Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron FOUR.
