Cmdr. Joey Vitollo
A native of Coxsackie, New York, Commander Joey Vitollo graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in History.
Afloat, Cmdr. Vitollo completed his division officer tours aboard the USS NITZE (DDG 94) as the Gunnery Officer, and later as the Repair Division Officer, and then aboard Patrol Coastal Crew Golf as the Operations Officer. He completed his department head tours aboard USS BULKELEY (DDG 84) as the Engineer Officer, and with Destroyer Squadron THREE ONE as the Combat Systems Officer/N8.
Additionally, he completed an Executive Officer tour aboard USS BUNKER HILL (CG 52). Most recently he served as the Executive Officer at Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron TWO. During his sea tours he deployed five times to the FIFTH FLEET area of operations including support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom, and three times to the SEVENTH FLEET area of operations.
Ashore, Cmdr. Vitollo served as a seamanship and navigation instructor at the US Naval Academy. While there, he earned a Master Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College as well as completing Joint Professional Military Education Phase I. Additionally, he served as an Integrated Air and Missile Defense planner for Commander, Task Force SIX FOUR in Naples, Italy.
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, as well as various campaign and unit awards. He is married to Jaime Lawton-Vitollo of Baltimore, Maryland with whom he has three children.
