Cmdr. Luke W. Penrose

A native of Reno, Nevada, Commander Luke Penrose graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Oceanography.
Afloat, Cmdr. Penrose completed his division officer tours aboard the USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42) as a Deck Division Officer and Force Protection Officer, and then aboard USS ANTIETAM (CG 54) as the Navigation Officer. He completed his department head tours aboard USS JAMES E WILLIAMS (DDG 95) as the Weapons Officer, and later as the Combat Systems Officer. Additionally, he completed a tour as the Carrier Tactics Officer aboard USS NIMITZ (CVN 68).
Ashore, Cmdr. Penrose attend the Naval Postgraduate School. While there, he earned a Masters Degree in Oceanography in the Undersea Warfare curriculum as well as completing Joint Professional Military Education Phase I. Additionally, he served as an Integrated Air and Missile Defense Syndicate mentor at Tactical Training Group Pacific and the Force Navigator and Surface Warfare Officer programs manager at Commander, Naval Surface Forces. Most recently he served as the Deputy Future Operations Director at Commander, 2nd Fleet. He reported to Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron Two as Executive Officer in October 2024.
Cmdr. Penrose’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, as well as various campaign and unit awards.
