Lt. Cmdr. Angel Aviles
Lieutenant Commander Angel Aviles is a native of Carolina, Puerto Rico. Commissioned in 2008 through the Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.
His previous Navy tours include: Construction Project Manager, Public Works Department (PWD) Guantanamo Bay, Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Platoon Commander, Assistant Company Commander, Field Training Exercise (FTX) React Commander, and Officer in Charge of Details participating in ARMY FTX and Horn of Africa plus-up operations, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, Naval Base Ventura County, California; Assistant Public Works Officer, Public Works Branch, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia; Fleet Staff Civil Engineer, Future Operations Action Officer and Naval Expeditionary Combat Forces Planner, Commander THIRD Fleet, Naval Base Point Loma, California; Facilities Engineering and Acquisition Division (FEAD) Director, PWD Camp Lemonier, Camp Lemonier, Djibouti; and FEAD Director, PWD Bahrain, Naval Support Activity Bahrain, Bahrain.
Lieutenant Commander Aviles’ current duty station is NMCB 133, Naval Construction Battalion Center, Mississippi where he is serving as the Executive Officer.
He is a certified Seabee Combat Warfare Officer, a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Virginia, a Certified Energy Manager, and holds a PWD Level III certification, a DAWIA
Contracting Level III certification, a Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I certification, and a Defense Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA) Phase II certification. He is a
member of the Defense Acquisition Corps and the Society of American Military Engineers.
His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), Humanitarian
Service Medal (2 awards) for his contributions to the Department of Defense relief efforts after the Haiti Earthquake (2010) and Super Typhoons Mangkhut and Yutu (2018), and other various
unit and service awards.
