Master Chief Duane O. Jerry



Command Master Chief Jerry is a native of Westmoreland, Jamaica. At the age of 11 he relocated from Jamaica to Orlando, Fla. He graduated from Oviedo High School in May of 1997 and signed up for the Delayed Entry Program the same month. He went to recruit training command at Great Lakes Chicago, Ill. in March of 1998. After boot camp, CMDCM Jerry attended Utilitiesman “A” School at Naval Construction Training Center Det Sheppard Air Force Base Wichita Falls, Texas. Following “A” school, he reported to Public Works Naval Station Rota Spain. During his tour he was advanced to Utilitiesman 3rd Class.


In January of 2001 he then reported to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 74 where he made deployments to include Camp Lejeune, Guam, Kuwait and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he was then advanced to Utilitiesman 2nd Class. He was hand selected to a Fleet Support Billet at Naval Construction Training Center Gulfport, Miss. while aboard he taught “F” schools and “C” schools. He arrived at the Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Ill. in December 2004, where he became a Recruit Division Commander. He transformed 478 civilians into highly motivated and basically trained sailors. During his tour in December 2006, he was advanced to Utilitiesman 1st Class.

In October of 2008, he reported to NMCB ONE Gulfport, Miss., where he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer. During his tour he served as Quality Control inspector for Pacific Command deployment to Guam and Assistant Officer In Charge for Detail Tarin Kowt for Central Command deployment to Afghanistan. Chief Jerry reported aboard to CBMU 202 Detachment Jacksonville on Mar 2012 where he served as the Operations Chief and Officer In Charge.

In October 2014 he reported to NMCB ELEVEN, Gulfport, MS, and served as the CCAD Yap AOIC, Bravo Company Operations Chief, Delta Company Chief, Command Fitness Leader and Battalion FTX Chief (S3FTX).

In June 2017 he took follow on orders to Naval Construction Group Two, Gulfport, MS, where he was assigned as the N75 Operations chief, N75 Leading Chief Petty Officer and ISIC Master Scheduler. Responsible for the training and readiness of Echelon V & VI commands under NCG 2 cognizance.

In June 2018, he was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer. In May 2021, he then took orders back to NMCB 1 where he was promoted to Master Chief Petty Officer. During his tour he served as the S7C Training Chief, Det Guam Delta Company Chief, Acting Command Master Chief Det Guam Senior Enlisted Leader. Jerry reported to NMCB 133 April 06, 2023 as Command Master Chief. CMDCM Jerry is a designated Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist, Expeditionary Warfare Specialist and a qualified Master Training Specialist. His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4th Award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3rd Award), Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Battle “E” Ribbon (4th Award), Navy Good Conduct Medal , National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Award (4th Award),Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service, Navy Recruit Training Service award, NATO Meritorious Service Medal Expert Rifle medal, and Expert Pistol medal.
