Cmdr. Christopher W. Archer
Commander Archer hails from Derby, Kansas, and was commissioned in 2004 from Officer Candidate School, Pensacola, Florida. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Kansas State University and a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Hawaii. He assumed command of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) ONE THIRTY THREE in June 2023.
Commander Archer’s previous expeditionary tours include a Junior Officer tour in NMCB FIVE, serving as Material Liaison Officer, Echo Company Commander, and Detail Officer in Charge with deployments to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait and Chinhae, Republic of Korea. He also served as the Training Director / Operations Officer at the Naval Construction Training Center, Port Hueneme, California.
In 2018, he returned to NMCB FIVE for service as the Executive Officer (XO). During his XO tour the battalion completed two successful INDOPACOM deployments, earning two Battle “E” Awards and the Peltier Award.
Following his tour in NMCB FIVE, Archer reported to Commander, Navy Expeditionary Combat Forces Europe-Africa / Task Force SIX EIGHT (CTF 68) as the Chief Staff Officer from 2020-2023. Archer’s staff tours include service as the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Pacific Aide to the Commander in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; the Deputy Force / Fleet Engineer for US Naval Forces Central Command / US FIFTH Fleet in Bahrain; and the NAVFAC Atlantic Executive Assistant in Norfolk, Virginia.
His facilities and project management assignments include Assistant Resident Officer in Charge of Construction at Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas; Assistant Public Works Officer (APWO) at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii; and the Facilities Engineering and Acquisition Division (FEAD) Director at Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia.
Commander Archer is a registered professional engineer in the state of Kansas, a Seabee Combat Warfare Officer, and a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (eight awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and other campaign, unit, and service awards.
