NMCB 18 Command Master Chief 

 

Seabee Master Chief Chad Bartman began his Navy career at in September 2004, enlisting into the Non-Prior Service Accession Course, Advanced Pay Grade and entered boot camp in January the following year.

He was quickly assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 25. In January 2006, as a BU2, he was deployed, as a member of NMCB 25 to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During this deployment, he became Seabee Combat Warfare Qualified. His assignments and duties after the deployment included: NMCB 25 Detachment 13: Assistant Officer In Charge, and NMCB TWO FIVE: Embarkation Lead Petty Officer.  

Bartman was selected for Chief Petty Officer in 2010 and completed the Chief Induction process at Naval Station Great Lakes. After his pinning, he assumed the role of Embarkation Chief for NMCB 25.

In the Fall of 2010, he was billeted to NMCB 28. During his tenure with NMCB 28, he was assigned as the Communication Department Chief (S6C). He was also mobilized with NMCB 28 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as their Embarkation Chief and Unit Movement Officer in Afghanistan.

After returning to the US, he was assigned to Naval Cargo Handling Battalion (NCHB) 11 as the Expeditionary Support Company – Alfa / Bravo LCPO, during which he was selected for Senior Chief in 2016 and earned his Expeditionary Warfare qualification.

After leaving NCHB 11, he moved back to NMCB 25 and became its Operations Chief (S3C). During his tenure, the command earned two sequential Battle “E” s and Perry Awards. He was also selected for Seabee Master Chief during this tour.

Bartman is currently assigned to Navy Reserve Center, Rock Island Illinois, and billeted to NAVFAC CEU as the Senior Enlisted Advisor. He has most recently been assigned as the Command Master Chief for Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 18.  

Bartman currently resides in Danvers, Illinois, with his wife Kristie and son Clayton.  He holds a Master of Arts Degree in Geography from the University of Georgia in addition to a Bachelor in Science Degree in Biology from Illinois State University.

He currently works as a Biogeographer for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife Resources in Springfield Ill. Master Chief Bartman has been awarded a Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal (three awards) and various unit awards. Mobilizations: 2006 Iraq and 2014 Afghanistan.
