Cmdr. Orrick R. Haney


 
 Cmdr. Orrick R. Haney is from Salem, SC. He received a direct commission in the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps in May of 2003, and attended Direct Commission Officer Indoctrination in Pensacola, FL. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at The Citadel, Charleston, SC in 1992. Afterward, he was accepted as a Charles Edward Via Scholar in the Civil Engineering graduate program at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, VA, where he graduated with honors in 1994, with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering.
After completion of Direct Commission Officer Indoctrination, Cmdr. Haney reported aboard NMCB 24 serving as a DET OIC, and Training Officer. Afterward, he transferred to NMCB 14 in 2008 where he served two tours as the Bravo Company Commander and successfully deployed as OIC AIR DET BLUE ISO Operation Iraqi Freedom IV (2007-2008). Cmdr. Haney was then assigned to Third Naval Construction Regiment as R36, and later deployed with the unit as OIC of the Regimental Construction Acquisition Cell, NATO Operational Combat Command Afghanistan (2010-2011). He reported aboard NCHB 4 in 2011, initially assigned as Equipment Officer, and later Operations Officer, supporting 6 expeditionary cargo worldwide missions. Cmdr. Haney transferred to NMCB 14 in 2013 as Alfa Company Commander and later Operations Officer, completing successful Field and Military Training Exercises along with responsibility for deployment of two NMCB 14 AIR DETs in support of CTF-56 and CTF-68. He joined NAVFAC Contingency Engineering Command in 2017, progressing from Future to Deputy Operations Officer, responsible for 10 operations staff personnel in the execution of 276 missions to 50 worldwide geographic locations. He reported aboard NR NECC HQ at Joint Expeditionary Base, Little Creek, VA in 2019, initially assigned as N7 Training and N8 Manpower Officer, and later Chief of Staff.
Cmdr. Haney is a Seabee Combat Warfare Officer, DWIA Contract Acquisition Level II, and JPME PH I credit with completion of Naval War College Command and Staff with Highest Distinction. His personal decorations include Meritorious Service Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 Awards), Army Commendation Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 Awards), Navy “E” Ribbon (2 Awards), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/ M Device, NATO (ISAF), Navy Expert Rifle Medal, and Navy Expert Pistol Medal.
 
Cmdr. Haney is registered as Professional Engineer in four states and holds various professional certifications. He is employed as a Senior Nuclear Engineer and serves as a member of the Emergency Response Organization with Duke Energy at Oconee Nuclear Station in Seneca, SC
