
Cmdr. Albetro Alshabazz
Chief Staff Officer, 7th Naval Construction Regiment
Cmdr. Al Alshabazz is a native of Orlando, Florida. He enlisted in the Navy in June 1993 as an Equipment Operator promoting to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer before commissioning in October 2008 under the Limited Duty Officer program in the Civil Engineer Corps. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Studies with a minor in Human Resource Management from University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) in August 2008. He is also an MBA graduate school candidate through UMGC.
Cmdr. Alshabazz’s operational tours include enlisted tours at Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5 and NMCB 4. As a commissioned officer, he served as Officer in Charge (OIC), Detail Delaram II, Afghanistan and Assistant (Charlie) Company Commander, NMCB 133; Assistant Training Officer and Mission Engineer-Pacific Partnership 2017, Amphibious Construction Battalion ONE; and most recently serving as Operations Officer and Facilities Officer, Naval Expeditionary Combat Forces Europe & Africa, Commander, Task Force 68 (CTF 68), Rota, Spain. During his operational tours he successfully completed deployments to Okinawa/Yokosuka, Japan; Guam; Puerto Rico; Dominican Republic; Port-au- Prince, Haiti; Annette Island (Metlakatla), Alaska in support of Operation Alaskan Roads; Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom; and Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
His shore assignments include enlisted tours at Construction Battalion Unit 403, Annapolis, Maryland; FIRST Naval Construction Division Detachment Guam; and Policy, Programs & Requirements Directorate, White House Military Office, Washington, D.C. His assignments as an officer include Regimental Training Officer (R7), THIRD Naval Construction Regiment, Marietta, Georgia; Officer in Charge, Center for Seabees and Facilities Engineering Detachment Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; and Materiel Officer (N43) / Facilities Officer (N46) for Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group ONE, Coronado, California; and as the Senior Planning and Exercise Officer, Naval Expeditionary Combat Command, Little Creek, Virginia.
Cmdr. Alshabazz is a qualified Seabee Combat Warfare Officer. His awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (eight awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), the Presidential Service Badge and other unit, and campaign awards.
