 Capt. Michael W. Meno, Jr

Captain Michael Meno is a native of Orland Park, Illinois. He has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1995), a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1998), and Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland at College Park (2009).

Meno attended Officer Candidate School (OCS) and was commissioned an Ensign in October of 1998. Following OCS, he attended Civil Engineer Corps Officer School in Port Hueneme, California. In May of 1999, Meno reported to U.S. Naval Air Station Keflavik in Iceland to serve as the Environmental Division Officer. In September 2001, Meno was transferred to Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, where he served as an Assistant Resident Officer in Charge of Construction until December of 2003. In January 2004, Meno was transferred to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 133. During his tour, he made deployments to Iraq and Guam as an Officer-In-Charge. In June 2006 he was transferred to NAVFAC HQ where he served as the Aide to the Chief of Civil Engineers. In August of 2007, Meno was transferred to DUINS at the University of Maryland at College Park. In June 2009 he was transferred to NMCB 1 where he served as the Operations Officer. During his tour, he made deployments to Japan and Afghanistan. In June 2012 he was transferred to NAVFAC Southwest where he served as the Facilities Engineering and Acquisition Director for the Public Works Department at Naval Base Coronado, an AOPS/IPT Leader, and a Public Works Officer. Meno reported to the OPNAV staff in June of 2015 as the Facilities Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization Program Manager for the Shore Readiness Division and served as the Shore Readiness Analyst for the Programming Division from April 2016 to June 2018. Meno served as the Commanding Officer for NMCB 1 from June 2018 to July 2020. During his tour he made 2 deployments to Rota, Spain.

Meno assumed the responsibilities as the Head Detailer for the Civil Engineer Corps in July 2020.

Meno is Seabee Combat Warfare qualified, a registered Professional Engineer in North Carolina, a certified energy manager, and a certified safety professional. His personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, Navy Commendation Medal with four gold stars, Army Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal with two gold stars, and the National
