Capt. Leslie Slootmaker, USN

Cmdr. Leslie Slootmaker is a native of Waveland, Mississippi. She received her commission from the United States Naval Academy (USNA), Class of 2003.
Her sea duty operational assignments include supply officer on the USS GRASP (ARS-51); platoon commander, EOD Mobile Unit (EODMU) Three; staff officer and flag aide to Commander, Carrier Strike Group Twelve; executive officer, Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit One; commanding officer, EODMU SIX “Kegbusters” of, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Ashore, Slootmaker’s assignments include, operations officer, EOD Training and Evaluation Unit (EODTEU) Two; flag aide to the President, U.S. Naval War College (USNWC); assistant operations officer, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command Pacific (NECCPAC); deputy directorate for global integration, Strategy, Plans and Policy (J-5), Joint Staff.
She assumed her current duties as executive officer, Navy Expeditionary Warfighting Development Center (NEXWDC) in July 2023. She holds a master’s degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in Operations Research, and is the recipient of the Military Operations Research Society Stephen A. Tisdale Graduate Research Award, as well as the Surface Navy Association’s Award for Excellence in Surface Warfare Research for outstanding research.
Her personal awards include the Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy-Marine Corps Commendation medal (four awards), Army Commendation Medal (two awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Battle “E”, as well as various unit and campaign awards.
