Lt. Cmdr. Laura E. Hess
LCDR Hess is a native of Villa Park, CA. She received her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 2011 and commissioned through Officer Candidate School the same year. She holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz School of Business.
Hess completed operational assignments as future operations officer; chemical, biological, and radiological officer; and detachment Bahrain officer in charge with U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 11.
Her shore assignments include facility support contract management and facility services branch head, U.S. Naval Research Laboratory; assistant public works officer, Washington Navy Yard; installation energy manager, Naval Support Activity Washington; public works officer, Naval Support Facility Thurmont; CEC O1-O2 detailer, Navy Personnel Command; and Requirements Officer, Naval Construction Group ONE.
Hess reported to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion THREE to serve as Executive Officer in July 2024.
Hess is a qualified Seabee Combat Warfare Officer and registered Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois. She has earned Public Works Department Level III qualification, DAWIA Contracting Professional certification and Acquisition Professional Membership, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification, and the Presidential Service Badge. She was selected the White House Military Office Company Grade Officer of the Year 2018. Her personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
