Cmdr. Derek B. Hall
Commander Hall is a native of Texarkana, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Arkansas in May 2007. Hall was commissioned in August 2007 through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida. He earned a Master of Science in Engineering (Construction Engineering and Project Management) from University of Texas in August 2018. Hall’s expeditionary tours include Communications Officer, Delta Company Commander, and Detail Officer-in-Charge, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion THREE (2010-2011), which included deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; and Future Plans Officer, Navy Expeditionary Forces Command Pacific/Commander, Task Force SEVEN FIVE (2018-2020).
His shore assignments include Construction Manager, Public Works Department (PWD), Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, California (2008-2009); Facilities Management Department Head, Naval Hospital Guam (2011-2013); Production Division Director, PWD, Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas (2013-2016); Operations Officer, PWD, Naval Support Facility Redzikowo, Poland (2016-2017), where notably he was the first Navy boots-on-the-ground during establishment of the Navy’s newest installation; Public Works Officer, Naval Air Facility El Centro, California (2020 2022); and, Expeditionary Director, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Pacific (2022-2024), which included temporary assignment to Joint Task Force – Red Hill as Repair and Maintenance Directorate Operations Officer from September 2022 to June 2023.
In July 2024, Hall joined FIRST Naval Construction Regiment as the Chief Staff Officer.
Commander Hall is a Seabee Combat Warfare officer, a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas, and a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps. He holds certifications for Civil Engineer Corps Public Works Level III and Defense Acquisition Workforce Contracting Professional. Hall has proudly served with units authorized to wear the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation and Armed Forces Service Medal. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (six awards), and Navy Achievement Medal (two awards).
