Navy Expeditionary Intelligence Command (NEIC) provides multi-intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capability through centralized planning, coordination, and integration or expeditionary intelligence capabilities in order to assess, plan, and execute intelligence operations in the expeditionary and maritime domain.
- responsible for administrative support, movement planning, organizational oversight and training, and required DOD intelligence capability certification for all assigned intelligence exploitation teams (IET)
- serves as an advocate for intelligence manning, training, and equipment requirements for the expeditionary force
- delivers flexible, capable, and ready maritime expeditionary intelligence forces that respond rapidly to evolving irregular warfare and intelligence requirements
NEIC's mission is to provide the Navy and joint force commanders with the tactical indication and warning force protection intelligence, sensitive site exploitation, and intelligence preparation of the operations environment required to win decisively in major combat operations.
- provide human intelligence military source operations (MSO) and counterintelligence (CI)
- plan, direct, and process all collected tactical intelligence
- report and disseminate intelligence gathered to necessary external commands
- provide expeditionary warfighters with timely, relevant intelligence to deny the enemy sanctuary, freedom of movement, and the use of waterborne lines of communication - while enabling friendly forces to find, fix, finish, and destroy the enemy within the operational environment
NEIC has unique access to areas and environments that are constrained by the more traditional intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance assets.
NEIC conducts MSO and IC, tailor tactical electronic warfare and signals intelligence, and integrates all-source analytics through some of the following means:
- monitor radio frequency spectrums
- conduct tactical questioning and interrogations
- conduct CO inquiries and investigations
- create indication and warning systems
