Maritime Expeditionary Security Force

The Maritime Expeditionary Security Force consists of two Groups; one in San Diego and one in Virginia Beach. The MESF has deployed units around the globe that include both active duty and reserve Sailors. This includes two expeditionary security detachments in Guam and Bahrain; seven Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadrons, and thirty-one Maritime Expeditionary Security Companies.

Squadrons are rotated regularly from Groups 1 & 2. This allows for a regular schedule so Sailors and their families understand the operational requirements and the time they will be deployed to various locations.

 

  • comprised of both active duty and reserve Sailors
  • 2 Groups man, train, and equip the force for projected operational environment
  • 2 Expeditionary Security Detachments provide fleet commands a persistent presence through forward deployments to Guam and Bahrain
  • 7 squadrons maintain unit-level readiness and training
  • 31 Companies operate independently or in coordination with other forces on specified missions
