Lt. Cmdr. Matthew R. Evans
Lieutenant Commander Evans is a native of Sacramento, California. He received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Brigham Young University in 2008 and commissioned as an Ensign through Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He holds a Master of Science from Oregon State University, majoring in Civil Engineering with a specialty in Coastal and Ocean Engineering.
His operational tours include serving as the Executive Officer and Diving Officer, Underwater Construction Team 2; and as the Assistant Training Officer at U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133. His shore assignments include Resident Officer in Charge of Construction Camp Blaz, OICC Marine Corps Marianas; Public Works Officer, Fleet Activities Chinhae, Korea; and Construction Manager, Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland.
Lieutenant Commander was most recently the Navy Personnel Command PERS-401 Branch Head where he supervised 16 detailers and rating assignment officers in charge of advocating for and distributing 15,000 Seabee, Special Warfare, and Special Operations enlisted Sailors.
Evans is a Seabee Combat Warfare qualified officer, a Marine Engineer Diving Officer, a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Utah, and a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps. He completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase I through the U.S. Naval War College and is certified as NAVFAC Public Works Level 3 and DAWIA Contracting Level 2. His personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal (four awards) and the Navy Achievement Medal (three awards).
