LCDR Lt. Cmdr.  Tyler L. Williams


A native of Princeton, Kentucky, Lt. Cmdr. Williams graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.  He was commissioned as an officer in January 2013 through Officer Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island.
 
Williams began his naval career at Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 1 in September 2013 where he served as communications officer and intelligence officer until deployment to Timor Leste.  On deployment, he served as the liaison officer for Construction Civic Action Detail Timor Leste and returned to homeport as a Charlie Company platoon commander.  Williams transferred to NAVFAC Southeast’s Naval Station Guantanamo Bay Public Works Department in May 2015.  There he served as senior construction manager.  In February 2017, he served as the acting Project Management and Engineering (PM&E) Branch Head for PWD Guantanamo Bay.  In January 2018 he transferred to NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic serving at Naval Support Activity Crane as the assistance public works officer (APWO) and acting utilities and energy management (UEM) branch head.  Lt. Cmdr. Williams served as the executive officer of Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit (CBMU) 202 from June 2020 to August 2022.  He attended graduate school at Old Dominion University from August 2022 to July 2023.  After graduate school, Williams reported to BUPERS-3 in Millington, Tennessee, as the Seabee Enlisted Community Manager.  He departed BUPERS-3 in May 2025.
 
Williams assumed his duties as the executive officer of NMCB-11 in May of 2025.
 
Williams is Seabee Combat Warfare qualified officer, a registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and a Certified Floodplain Manager.  He received his Master of Science in Structural Engineering from Old Dominion University and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Louisville.  He is also an active member of the Society of Military Engineers and American Society of Civil Engineers.  He was selected as the NAVFAC MIDLANT Military Engineer of the Year in 2020.  His personal decorations include the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards) and the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other personal, service, unit, and campaign awards.
