CDR Jeffrey DePiazza

Commander DePiazza is a native of Leonardtown, Maryland. He graduated from Leonardtown High School in May 1993 in Leonardtown and graduated from George Mason University in 2000, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. On June 2, 2005 he was commissioned as an Ensign through the Direct Commission Officer Program and he attended Direct Commissioned Officer School in Pensacola, Florida, in April 2006. He completed the Seabee Operations Course in Port Hueneme, California, in September 2009.
In September 2005, he reported to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB)14 in September 2005. While at NMCB-14, DePiazza was first detailed as a Detachment Officer-In-Charge, earning the 2005 Detachment of the Year award and moving on to Communications Officer for the 2007 Field Training Exercise. Afterwards, he was recalled to Active Duty and served a seven-month active tour in Djibouti as the 22nd Naval Construction Regiment Liaison Officer at the Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa. Returning to NMCB-14 after his deployment, he went on to serve as Admin Officer, and Bravo Company Commander where he earned the 2010 Company of the Year award. He continued to serve in NMCB-14 as the Interim Operations Officer for seven months before transferring out in 2012 to CENTCOM as an Engineering Staff Officer until 2016. He was then picked up by 7th Naval Construction Regiment for a few months until selected as Operations Officer for NMCB-14. Following this tour, he then rotated to Naval Facilities (NAVFAC) Contingency Engineering Unit (CEU), where he served as the Deputy Operations Officer. After this, he was chosen as the Operations Officer for 7th Naval Construction Regiment, based out of Gulfport, Mississippi, and served in this capacity until June 2024, when he was selected as the next Commanding Officer of NCB-22.
Cmdr. DePiazza is a Seabee Combat Warfare qualified officer, registered Professional Engineer, and Level II qualified in the Defense Acquisition Workforce Test and Evaluation program. DePiazza has earned four Navy Commendation Medals, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Battle E (two), Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Navy Armed Forces Reserve Medal.
In the civilian sector, DePiazza works for Google as a Software Engineer, providing analysis of performance and feedback of low-level SoC hardware design to maximize the performance and total cost of ownership of all Arm servers fielded in the fleet.
