CMDCM(SCW/EXW) Jason Sheriff
NCB 18 Command Master Chief
CMDCM Sheriff, a native of Easley, S.C., enlisted in the Navy Reserves in June 2002, inspired by the events of 9/11. After completing basic training, he quickly advanced through the Non-Prior Service Program meeting all requirements.
In December 2004, he transferred to Operational Support Team Two, later SEAL Team Eighteen, in Little Creek, Virginia, where he contributed over 2,500 hours in support of Naval Special Warfare training. From October 2007 to April 2008, while deployed to Iraq, he qualified as an Expeditionary Warfare Specialist (EXW) while functioning as the lead builder for a 250-man Joint Operations Camp. With his selection to Chief Petty Officer in 2008, he transferred to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 24, where he oversaw the operational and administrative requirements for a 50-person detachment. During this time, he qualified as a Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist (SCW) and served in various positions until its decommissioning in 2013. Subsequent assignments included Naval Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) and Expeditionary Warfare Development Command (EXWDC), where he primarily supported exercises resulting in the certification of deployable units. During an Individual Augment deployment, he contributed to multiple operations across Northwest Africa while simultaneously being selected and advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer.
In 2018, he was detailed to Navy Cargo Handling Battalion 11, where he served as Company Senior Enlisted Leader, Expeditionary Warfare Program Manager, Operations Chief, and Battalion Senior Enlisted Advisor resulting in his selection and advancement to Master Chief Petty Officer. In August 2024, he was detailed to Navy Expeditionary Logistics Group (NAVELSG) as Reserve Senior Enlisted Leader, where he converted over to Command Master Chief (CMDCM). He was recently assigned to Navy Construction Battalion (NCB) 18 in Port Hueneme, California, as its newest CMDCM effective Oct. 1, 2025.
CMDCM Sheriff’s personal awards include the Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal. Currently, he is a Transportation Manager for Naval Special Warfare Group Two.
