Equipment Operator Senior Chief Manual Figueroa

Senior Chief Manuel R. Figueroa is a native of Napa, Cail. He enlisted in the Navy in June 2003. He attended Basic Training at Recruit Traing Command Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon completion of training, he attended Equipment Operator ‘A’ School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missori.
His first assignment was Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 4 from January 2004 to May 2008. During his tour, he served as collateral custodian, project crew member, rigger in charge, crane operator, and convoy security element vehicle commander during Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his tour, he was promoted to third and second class petty officer.
His next assignment was the Naval Construction Group 1 from May 2008 to April 2011. He served as transportation supervisor, where he managed 436 civil engineer support equipment assets. In April 2011, he reported to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 3, where he served as the yard supervisor, crane crew supervisor, training department lead petty officer, command seabee combat warfare specialist coordinator and was promoted to petty officer first class.
From January 2016 to April 2019, he reported to Naval Facilities Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center where he served as leading chief petty officer, weight handling equipment supervisor, command casualty assistance calls officer, command training petty officer and was promoted to chief petty officer.
From April 2019 to June 2023, he transferred back to NMCB-3, where he served as assistant officer in charge for Details Guam and San Clemente Island, Alfa Company operations chief, mineral products chief, and head blaster, and was promoted to senior chief petty officer. He then joined Construction Maintenance Unit 202 in July 2023 and now serves as Alfa Company Commander.
Senior Chief Figueroa’s awards include Navy Commendation Medal (2), Navy Achievement Medal (6), and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. He is qualified as a Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist, Expeditionary Warfare Specialist, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management from the University of La Verne in California.
