Cmdr. Brian W. Christner,
Chief Staff Officer
30th Naval Construction Regiment

Cmdr. Brian Christner is a native of Del Rio, Texas and a 2005 graduate of New Mexico State University in Las Cruces with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He was a Bachelor's Degree Completion Program candidate 2004 and commissioned in the Navy through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida in 2005. He also holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering Management with a Certificate in Water Resources from Colorado State University in Boulder.
His expeditionary assignments include U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 40, serving as Bravo Company Commander, Embark Officer.
Christner’s shore assignments include Staff Civil Engineer, Naval Special Warfare Group 2; Construction Manager for Public Works Department, Norfolk Naval Shipyard; Assistant Public Works Officer for Portsmouth Naval Medical Center, Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads; Aide to the Commander NAVFAC Pacific/Pacific Fleet Civil Engineer; Public Works Officer, Marine Corps Base Hawaii; Facilities Engineering Acquisition Division (FEAD) Director, Public Works Department Naval Base Ventura County.
His overseas tours include Facilities and Seabee Operations Officer for U.S. Naval Forces Command Central/Commander Task Force 56, Bahrain, and Marine Corps Base, Camp Blaz (MCBCB) Guam where he served as the Public Works Officer for Public Works Department MCBCB. He assumed duties as the Chief Staff Officer, 30th Naval Construction Regiment, May 2023.
Christner is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas, a qualified Seabee Combat Warfare Officer, and a member of the Acquisition Professional Community and Level III certified. He is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers. His personal decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (6 awards), and other personal, service, unit, and campaign awards. He also received the 2012 Society of American Military Engineers’ Uniformed Engineer of the Year Award, and 2013 NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic Engineer of the Year Award.
