Captain Andrew K. Duessel

CAPT Andrew K. Duessel is a Longmeadow, MA native and a 1990 graduate of the University Arizona. He commissioned through the Direct Commissioning Officer program in January 2000 after serving 5 years as an enlisted Storekeeper, onboard DDD Oakland, ABFC FTU C319, and SSB1 in Phoenix, Arizona. Throughout his career, he served with Supply Support Battalion One, Air Pac Supply 0294, Command Naval Forces Europe – Command Naval Forces Africa Sixth Fleet, and Navy Cargo Handling Battalion (NCHB) TWELVE in a variety of capacities including Company Commander, Training Officer, Operations Officer, and Executive Officer. His command tours include: NR DLA DRT TWO in Anniston, AL from 2012 to 2015 where he led a joint staff of 42 Sailors and Soldiers in supporting Army Depot; and NCHB-THIRTEEN from 2016 to 2018, where he guided the Battalion through a successful Unit Level Training Exercise, Unit Level Training and Readiness Assessment, and earned the coveted Battle-E in 2018. In his previous tour, CAPT Duessel serves as the Commodore for the FOURTH NELR and has successfully led the entire Regiment through the ULTRA certification process.  CAPT Duessel is currently commanding the Joint Reserve Force for DLA Distribution in New Cumberland, PA.  In this capacity CAPT Duessel command approximately 191 Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines in support of the DLA Distribution mission across 26 sites located around the world.  CAPT Duessel was recalled to active duty three times as an Individual Augmentee and Battle Captain assigned to the 41st Brigade Combat Team of TF Phoenix in Kabul, Afghanistan; led the DLA Disposition Services mission in Bagram AFB in Afghanistan in 2015; and led the NAVELSG ALPHA TWO and BRAVO TWO rotations from 2018-2019, supporting stations across the Middle East and Africa.

CAPT Duessel holds a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix in Business Management, a graduate degree from Louisiana State University in Banking, and an active CPA license in both Arizona and Alabama. CAPT Duessel earned his graduate degree in Banking from the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University in May 2025.  His awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2), Meritorious Service Medal (3), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2), and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and various other awards and commendations.
