Command Master Chief Johnnie D. Meyer
Command Master Chief, Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron One


Command Master Chief Johnnie D. Meyer is a native of Albuquerque, N.M. He enlisted in the Navy Delayed Entry Program and reported for basic training in December 1998. He completed Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill., and Nuclear Electrician's Mate “A" School, Nuclear Power School, and Nuclear Prototype in Charleston, S.C.

His duty assignments include serving aboard the nuclear-powered attack submarines USS Albuquerque (SSN 706) and USS City of Corpus Christi (SSN 705) in Groton, Conn. He was aboard City of Corpus Christi for its refueling in Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Maine, and its change of homeport to Guam. He left active duty in December 2004 and immediately joined the Navy Reserve.

Reporting to Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC) Albuquerque, he was attached to Commander, Amphibious Squadron One and was assigned as an instructor for Navy Reserve Accession Course (NRAC). From Sept. 23 to October 7, 2005, he volunteered for Hurricane Katrina relief support in New Orleans, La. In 2006, he volunteered for mobilization with Mobile In-Shore Undersea Warfare Unit (MIUWU) 112. From July 2006 to July 2007, MIUWU-112 deployed to the United Arab Emirates in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In November 2007, he transferred to NOSC Phoenix and was assigned to SURGEMAIN. From September 2008 to July 2010, he was attached to Maritime Expeditionary Security Forces (MESF), Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron (MAREXSECRON) 9, Division 93, in Portland, Ore. In July 2010, he transferred to MAREXSECRON-1, Detachment Alpha in San Diego, Calif. A force restructure changed the command name to Coastal Riverine Squadron (CRS) 1. From September 2012 to April 2015, he served as the senior enlisted leader for CRS-1 Company Alpha, completing a deployment to Djibouti, Africa, from June 2013 to January 2014 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. From April 2015 to April 2019, he served as the CRS-1 Headquarters Training Department Master Chief. 

Meyer is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy, Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat program, and he is currently assigned as the Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron (MSRON) 1 Command Master Chief.

His personal awards include a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal (two awards) and various unit awards. He earned his bachelor's degree in Criminology from the University of New Mexico in 1999.
