Reporting to NIACT Fort Jackson


Navy Individual Augmentee Combat Training (NIACT) provides oversight of required pre-deployment combat skills training while delivering superior administrative processing, equipping, certification, and transport to theater for Navy Individual Augmentees (IAs) deploying for non-traditional expeditionary mission in support of Overseas Contingency Operations in CENTCOM and AFRICOM. This course is designated as

NIACT also provides training to deployers enroute to assignment as SECFOR at Isa Air Base, Bahrain or to Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti base support billets (E6 and below) who will have collateral duty requirements as Auxiliary Security Force (ASF). Training consists of Courses of Instruction A-830-2216 (Navy Security Force Sentry/NSFS) and A-830-2217 (Security Reaction Force Team Member-Basic/SRFTM-B) which together comprise the qualifications of Security Reaction Force-Basic (SRF-B).

Sailors processed through ECRC Norfolk will have transportation provided for them. Other IAs are responsible for transportation from Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE) to Bldg 3903 at McCrady Training Center (MTC) to check in with NIACT CDO at 803-719-1160.

TRANSPORTATION AT MTC

  • Personnel walk to DFAC, which is located near berthing.

  • Bus service is available for PX runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1830-2030. 

  • Transportation for Chapel Services at Fort Jackson is also available on Sunday mornings.

  • On Saturdays, Sundays, and liberty weekends, a shuttle will be available for PX runs from 1500-1900.
     

DON'T FORGET!

  • Bring two or more sets of Navy Physical Training Uniform (PTU) gear and running shoes.   

  • Bring a 90 day supply of all prescription medications.

  • Bring a copy of your current eyeglass prescription or wear your most current prescription glasses.

  • Bring no less than one set of civilian clothes, for traveling purposes.

  • All of your necessary military gear and equipment will be issued. Do not buy extra equipment that you may not need or be authorized to have. (Including shoulder holsters!)

  • You may bring laptops, MP3 players, gaming systems, and electronics of this nature at your own risk. These items ARE NOT allowed on ranges or during any training evolutions. Camera use IS NOT permitted on ranges or during any training evolutions.

  • Cell phone use IS NOT permitted at any time during daily training hours.

  • Bring towels, shower shoes and a lock for your locker.  They will NOT be provided.

BASIC COMBAT SKILLS TRAINING
The 17-day basic combat combat skills training includes a welcome in-brief and cultural awareness training on the Sunday after arrival and gear issue starting on Monday.

The training curriculum includes:

  • M4 & M9 Weapon Qualification

  • Crew Serve Weapon Familiarization

  • MRAP & HEAT (HMMWV Egress Assistance Trainer)

  • Land Navigation

  • First Aid/Tactical combat casualty care

  • Communication

  • Convoy

  • Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED)


SECURITY REACTION FORCE BASIC (SRF-B) TRAINING

  • If your orders display two different attendance report dates as Intermediate Activity at ECRC Detachment Ft. Jackson, then you have been assigned to complete both NIACT and SRF-B. 

  • The training cycle includes 10 additional days of training which begins the Tuesday of NIACT’s completion.

  • Training Curriculum: The Course of Instruction requirements of A-830-2216 and A-830-2217, minus small arms qualification requirements which the students will have completed during NIACT.

  • Tactical Team Movements

  • Entry Control Point Operations

  • Personnel and vehicle searches

  • Building clearance

  • Mechanical Advantage Control Holds (MACH), Handcuffing techniques and tactical takedowns

  • Non-Lethal Weapons employment

  • ASP Baton

  • Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Pepper Spray **

** NOTE: Any personnel who have previously received Level-1 OC certification must provide proof to allow inert spray during NLW recertification. Without proof by Level-1 Card, certificate or FLTMPS certification of completion of Schoolhouse SRF-B COI A-830-0018, MBR will be required to be certified with actual training OC again.

 

BERTHING/MESSING

  • Billeting will be arranged by Navy LNO.

  • All personnel will stay in open bay barracks.

  • Meals will be provided at no charge at DFAC (dining facility), Bldg 3800.

  • Hours are flexible to accommodate training requirements.

  • MREs/bag lunches will be provided while students are engaged in field/range operations.

  • Laundry machines are available in the barracks. Detergent is not provided.


INTERNET/COMPUTERS

  • Maintain operational security (OPSEC) when communicating with friends and family back home.

  • Internet capable computers are available for personal use in the computer lab located in Bldg 3931.

  • Free Wi-Fi is available in all student barracks, the Impact Zone and the USO Day Room/Liberty Center.

  • Alcohol consumption is highly regulated during training IAW OPNAVINST 3591.1(series) and AR 190-14.

  • NMCI computers are not available at Camp McCrady.
