Command Master Chief Fitz is a native of Danville, Virginia. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and attended Basic Training at Great Lakes in July 1998. Upon completion of basic training, he attended Seaman Apprenticeship Training in Great Lakes, IL. His first assignment after Seaman Apprenticeship Training was on board the USS Ponce (LPD 15) serving as an undesignated Seaman. Following this tour, he reported to the USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51), while onboard he was designated as a Disbursing Clerk, earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) qualification, approved to convert into the Full Time Support (FTS) Program and advanced to Petty Officer Third Class.
In August 2001, he transferred to Personnel Support Detachment Willow Grove, PA. During this tour, he advanced to Petty Officer Second Class. In 2004, he reported onboard the USS Elrod (FFG 55) during this tour he was advanced to Petty Officer First Class. After his tour onboard the USS Elrod, he reported to his first FTS assignment at Navy Region Reserve Component Command Mid-Atlantic, where he completed a one year individual augmentation deployment to Baghdad, Iraq.
In 2010, he reported to Commander, Navy Personnel Command (NPC) Reserve Support as the Enlisted Administrative Separation Lead, while onboard he advanced to Chief Petty Officer. Following his tour at NPC he reported to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA-204), and he earned his Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (EAWS) qualification and advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer.
In July 2015, he returned to NPC where he served as the Senior Enlisted Leader of Navy Pay and Personnel Support Center. Subsequent assignments include the staff of the Chief of Navy Personnel as the staff Senior Enlisted Leader/Advisor for Enlisted Advance Plans and Policies Branch and Command Master Chief at
Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 53 and Navy Reserve Region Readiness and Mobilization Command Great Lakes.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards) and Navy Achievement Medal (three awards). Master Chief Fitz is a graduate of the United States Navy and United States Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Academies and holds a Bachelor's of Science in Management from Park University.
