WHAT IS NAVELSG?
NAVELSG is responsible for providing expeditionary logistic capabilities for the Navy, primarily within the maritime domain of the littorals.
- Conduct surface and air cargo handling missions, cargo terminal and warehouse operations, fuels distribution, postal services, customs inspections, ordnance reporting and handling, and expeditionary communications
- NAVELSG is an “operational Reserve” command of which 10% or personnel are active-duty and 90% are Reserve forces
- NAVELSG is a vital enabler of maritime prepositioning forces and joint logistics over the shore
WHAT IS OUR MISSION?
NAVELSG provides a wide range of supply and transportation support critical for peacetime support, crisis response, humanitarian missions, and combat service support missions.
- Organize, train, equip, and deploy active duty and Reserve units for port, air cargo, and ordnance handling missions
- Respond to humanitarian relief efforts and builds allies through humanitarian efforts among host nations
- Provide logistics support to expeditionary forces deployed at sea and shore
- Defense support of civil authorities
- Deliver logistics capabilities with trained and certified active mobilization ready Navy Reserve force Sailors
WHAT WE DO & WHAT WE BRING
NAVELSG evaluates unit readiness, serves as a forward deployed headquarters, and loads and unloads all classes of cargo with exception of bulk petroleum
