Cmdr. John K. Pergerson


Commander John Pergerson is a native of Roxboro, North Carolina.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 2004.  He was commissioned in April 2005 after completing Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida.  Additionally, he has received a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Administration from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
 
His first assignment was at Naval Air Station Fallon, Nevada as the Assistant Resident Officer in Charge of Construction from May 2005 to May 2007. From May 2007 to December 2008 he was assigned to Naval Base Ventura County, California where he served as the dual-hatted Officer-In-Charge and Public Works Officer of Outlying Landing Field San Nicolas Island. From January 2009 to January 2010, he was assigned as Facilities Officer and Engineer Operations Officer on the staff of Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command in Bahrain.  In March 2010 he reported to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FORTY in Port Hueneme, California, where he served as Charlie Company Commander, Exercise Officer, and Officer in Charge/Embassy Liaison Officer of Detachment Philippines.  From July 2013 to May 2015, he served as the Assistant Public Works Officer at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia.  From May 2015 to May 2017 he was assigned as Training and Readiness Officer (S7) for Naval Mobile Construction Battalion THREE where he made two deployments to the Pacific.  From June 2017 to August 2019, he was assigned as the Public Works Officer (N4) of Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads in Norfolk, Virginia.  From August 2019 to June 2021, Commander Pergerson served as Executive Assistant to the Commander, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia.  He then reported to the staff of the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Installations and Logistics (N4) where he served as the Military Construction (MILCON) Program Analyst from June 2021 to April 2023.
 
In May 2023, Commander Pergerson assumed his present duties as Commanding Officer of “The Professionals”, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Five, homeported in Pt. Hueneme, California. 
 
He is a Seabee Combat Warfare Officer, a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps, and a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.  His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), the Navy and Marine Commendation Medal (5 awards), the Navy Achievement Medal and various other service, unit and campaign awards.
